Online money earned through marketing! What about taxes?

Hello guys,

I know this might be a topic or question that might have been asked a lot here and admins might delete it but I couldn't find any good advice or tips regarding to my question.

My situation is this: I'm a EU citizen, currently a student (21) and I do work on my free time for few different guys on a type of marketing. Basically they give me tasks and I do everything daily, with a monthly payment for all the projects I do. I also do some side work on my side, again online marketing, so I earn a decent chunk of money each month (1500 euro - 2500 euro).

Now on downside thing is that I don't get paid officially by them as an employer, I'm more like a contractor. I also get paid in cryptocurrency, Bitcoin or Ethereum. So to exchange my Bitcoin to Euro I use BitPanda exchange, where I'm verified with my ID card, so I send that money gradually in my bank account. I do transfers depending on the need, like 500 euro one week, 300 next week, or maybe 1000 euro a month to cover my expenses. I do also have a physical bank account and I use TransferWise (online sort of bank where you get free IBAN number, right now I have a Belgium IBAN but this is not the country I'm citizen off, and the also give you a debit card) as my second bank account since I do travel a lot.

Thank you for reading through all this, now my questions are:
  1. If I get around 2000 euro a month, not that regularly, do I have to report this money to someone in my country?
  2. If I spread out my money, like half in TransferWise account and a half in a physical bank, can I get flagged?
  3. How do I report this money if I'm not getting paid through a contract?
  4. What is the amount of side-income in EU that is non-taxable?

A few questions I would like to get answers to

Hello, I will try to keep this as short as possible.
I am from Europe, Latvia. I have bought bitcoin in 2017 when it was much easier to buy it. I used coinbase and all I had to do was just to send them money via credit card. No ID required, no Address asked, just register and start investing.
Nowadays things aren't this easy.
I wanted to buy deposit money on Kraken, just before bitcoin dropped to ~4,500 euros. The deposit was canceled because Kraken doesn't have a license in Latvia. I went to coinbase pro, tried to create an account there, but I had a lot of problems. I haven't got past my address confirmation. It might sound a bit silly, but I sent them my rent invoice, yes I had my name there and all the things that are needed, but they declined it. I contacted my bank to get my bank statement with my address as well and they declined it. Contacted their support and was disappointed that there is no live chat. Support answered me with some dumb automatic responses like "Have you written info in the correct boxes" etc. It even didn't have anything to do with my case. I have tried contacting support a lot of times and they couldn't help me. So I have dropped coinbase pro out of my list of exchange websites. I don't want to trust my money to Coinbase pro if it is so hard to contact them.
I really liked Kraken, because I have got used to them and their support was really friendly and it is easy to contact them. Kraken is the website I would like to use, but they don't have a license.
I checked Coinmama and it looks alright, but I don't know anything about them. I will do my research if I will use them, but maybe you could share your experience with them.
Here are the questions
- Kraken offers Etana Custody. I could use that to deposit euro to Kraken and exchange euro to bitcoin via Kraken. I am concerned that I will not be able to exchange back from bitcoin to euro via Kraken. Even if I can exchange bitcoin back to the euro, will I be able to transfer my money back to the bank if they are not licensed in Latvia?
- In Kraken, at the moment bitcoin costs 6,240 euros, in Coinmama bitcoin costs 6,600 euros. Why is there such a difference? What makes the difference?
- I feel like all this crypto exchange to euro is too complicated. If I wanted to day trade, how could I do it? Are there any websites dedicated to bitcoin day trading? My intention is to buy bitcoin when it is at its low and to sell when it is at its high.
- What sites are you using to trade bitcoin?
- Maybe there are some mistakes I am already doing?
Thank you in advance!

Idea: Swiss Bank Accountant Trader and Swiss Bank Account

So, you're an international PMC, getting all sorts of cash, valuables and riches. What do you do with them? Store them under the bed of course!
Obviously not. But I was thinking about how money takes up a huge amount of space and I had an interesting idea how to remedy that. Mercs wouldn't be hoarding it, they'd be putting it in an untraceable account for safe keeping.
This solves one major problem: Inventory space. Standard players don't have much and money can rapidly accrue. This wastes time on inventory management and can be frustrating. Especially with keybars and the like.
It solves another major problem: Poverty. I'll get into this later.
For the Swiss Banker, my idea is this: All currency purchases will be moved to him and based on level. It goes as follows:
Trader Level 1
Trader Level 2
Trader Level 3
Trader Level King
I just put other valuables for purchase just in case they are made available for quest trades later on. Here's how I think Swiss Accounts should work:
Swiss Account
Saftey Deposit Box
PO Box
Conclusions
EDIT: Swiss Account
Thanks to some good suggestions, I want to specify that the interest in the Swiss account is not to make people super rich without work. Its actually meant as a help to low level players or players who are down on their luck to alleviate frustration. The larger accounts are simply to give you more space.
Revamp Interest: Things can quickly become unbalanced by dumping money into the economy. To combat this, fees would be instituted whenever you move money. The higher level the account and the more money you move, the more fees you get hit with. There is no upper limit on this, so it wouldn't be possible to overcome the fees as they scale with the amount moved. The fees reflect paying off people to move illegally earned money undetected. This would provide insulation to the economy and prevent money hoarders from ruining it or dumping cash. It would also allow smaller players to reap more benefits, as players down on their luck wouldn't be hit nowhere near as hard with big fees. The real purpose of interest is to counter bad luck, RNG or just learning the game. Its intent is to not make people super wealthy, but to provide a buffer for bad streaks and reduce frustration. That's why the fees are there, to mitigate abuse.

Bit2Me DEX, 0x Protocol Decentralized Exchange presented in Google Spain

Bit2Me DEX, 0x Protocol Decentralized Exchange presented in Google Spain
Hello, we are Bit2Me. Last week we were at the Google Campus Madrid presenting a quick summary of our services.
We had great news to announce. We presented Bit2Me DEX, a decentralized exchange over 0x Protocol with a professional appearance and a great set of advanced functionalities.
Bit2Me is a Spanish company that since 2014 started the exchange of cryptocurrencies in Spain. We now offer service in more than 40 countries.
Bit2Me started by connecting Bitcoin with more than 10000 ATMs of traditional Spanish banks for the first time in history, this had never been done in the world: no need for a credit / debit card or any bank account, with Bit2Me anyone can convert bitcoins to euros in seconds and pick them up instantly at a traditional Spanish ATM. It was something magical and incredible, and even today it still works 4 years later (video about this).
As we mentioned, at Google Campus in Madrid we presented Bit2Me DEX, our bet for decentralized exchanges.
DEX works on 0x Protocol, and has been developed with the aim of having a decentralized professional operation focusing on two main points:
  • Usability
  • Design
In addition to looking for a nice and comfortable design, we also went for usability to be as simple and intuitive as possible.
We want to attract both new traders who are scared by the complexity of some existing exchanges, but also invite experienced traders searching for a more complete platform.
The platform will have the following characteristics:
Bit2Me DEX Screenshot
The decentralized exchange is ready at 90%, we are finishing some details and in the coming weeks we can publish exactly the final date of the launch.
Til then we continue working, a strong greeting from Spain.
Here you have a video of the presentation subtitled in Spanish and English and an album of photos of the event.

Burger King Arnhem (Netherlands) accepts Bitcoin

The project Arnhem Bitcoincity has reached a new milestone: There are now 100 venues that accept Bitcoin in Arnhem. The Burger King in the city center is the latest to join the project. For Bitcoin enthusiasts Arnhem is like heaven as you can practically pay everything with bitcoins. You can do your groceries at the SPAR supermarket, you can fill up your car at a local gas station, you can have dinner & lunch at more than 20 restaurants, go to a barber, dentist, massage salon or one of the many shops and pay everything with Bitcoin. And for tourist, there are 5 different hotels and bed & breakfasts where you can stay for the night from budget to high-end.
When this project started, all merchants converted their bitcoins to euros immediately through the payment processor BitKassa, but a growing number of merchants now keep their bitcoins, since they can pay some of their supplies with bitcoins themselves at other merchants who accept Bitcoin as well. For instance a restaurant owner who pays for his bread at a bakery that also accepts bitcoins.
And this is the ultimate goal of the project: to start a real Bitcoin economy, and prove that a real, viable alternative for the current financial system is possible and actually happening.
Burger King Arnhem is owned by a franchisee. Once the owner heard about the Bitcoin project in the city of Arnhem he decided to give it a try. Anyone who pays with bitcoin gets a second Whopper for free. On Friday 19th there will be a Bitcoin Meetup at this Burger King restaurant. Visitors or tourists who are enthusiastic or curious about Bitcoin are more than welcome to join us!

The story of a Bitcoincity!

Hi there, with all of the fuss about blocksize, transaction fees and tx-spamming we thought it might be nice to present a different perspective.
We are a group of friends who first learned about Bitcoin in 2012 and (just like most of you reading this) got very enthusiastic about it. In the end of 2013 we decided to not just sit and wait what happens but to start an initiative based on the inspiring story of Kreutzberg in Berlin which we read in a dutch article.
We organized free lectures about the basics of Bitcoin in our home city. We received very positive feedback and quite often the question "But what can you buy with Bitcoin". At that time we could only redirect to online stores which was not a very satisfying answer. So we decided to set up a project “Arnhem Bitcoincity” and we tried to convince café and restaurant owners to accept bitcoins. For this purpose we built our own payment processor (BitKassa) that would instantly convert the bitcoins to euros for the participants. On May 28th 2014 we organized an opening event where 15 cafés and restaurants were accepting bitcoins and Arnhem Bitcoin city was up and running.
Since then many other shops joined our project and when our local SPAR supermarket accepted bitcoins we could finally dismiss the argument "As long as I cannot pay my groceries with Bitcoin it is nothing". Today you can pay with bitcoins at about 80 venues and we are able to pay most of our expenses in Bitcoin in our hometown. Just a few examples: besides many cafés, restaurants, lunchrooms and coffee bars, we have a dentist that accepts bitcoins, a car garage/carwash, a bowling alley, multiple liquor stores, clothing stores, toy shops, computer stores, hairdressers, book stores, hotel, a bed & breakfast, etc etc.
Arnhem Bitcoincity helps to gain a better understanding about Bitcoin in our city. Although not all shop owners have a very good understanding about what Bitcoin exactly is or how it works, others went though a complete research about Bitcoin for themselves and went from just being open minded to being very pro-bitcoin and educating their customers about it. In fact a few shop owners asked us to no longer convert the bitcoins into euros since they can pay some of their supplies with bitcoins themselves at other merchants who accept bitcoin. This is of course our goal. To create a independent Bitcoin economy within our own hometown (or even worldwide, eventually).
But a revolution like this does not happen overnight. The good news is that it is taking place and slowly but steady more people understand Bitcoin and what it can do.
Want to see exactly how much bitcoins are spent in Arnhem? We are showing live transaction statistics on our website. Whenever someone pays at one of the shops that uses BitKassa the stats are automatically updated.
Have a look: www.ArnhemBitcoinstad.nl
Want to help this project? Plan a city trip to Arnhem! We have one B&B and two hotels that accept bitcoins and they are more than happy to receive more Bitcoin guests. Leave a note at our website and we are more than happy to help you plan a trip or have a drink or meal with anyone who takes the effort to visit us.
There are more projects like ours, a group of very nice guys from Ghent started Ghent Bitcoincity. Well worth to visit as well, we had a great time at their opening event in April this year.
One other cool thing: Students from our local university are given a small amount of euros to gain their first Bitcoin experience. They receive about €2,50 worth of bitcoins from the university, enough to buy themselves a drink in one of the many cafés here that accept bitcoins. Do you want to support this initiative, in order to help newcomers get their first bitcoins, thus helping Bitcoin to spread and go mainstream? We have opened a donation address: 1ARNheMoSAtBziPhtAw5WdojfAz8WtdvDg
Any amount, large or small, is more than welcome. All bitcoins sent here before August 26th will be divided amongst the students who signed up.
A common question we get is: BitKassa accepts unconfirmed transactions, did you ever got double spent? There has never been a double spend in Arnhem so far (or at any other merchant that uses BitKassa outside of Arnhem, we have over 200 merchants throughout Europe), but we are closely monitoring it. In fact we believe there has never even been a serious attempt to pull off a double spend. Of course it is much more convenient to try to double spend an online service that takes zero-conf than to show your face in a shop. We have taken all possible measures against double spending, but yes, if replace-by-fee will be the standard amongst mining pools, projects like ours are at risk. We realize that Bitcoin might not be invented to do secure zero confirmation transactions, but the way we use it most definitely creates a faster user adoption. Nobody sees you paying an online pizza, while when paying on the street people notice it and often ask questions. Just the "we accept bitcoin" stickers raise questions already. We are quite sure that the average person in Arnhem has a more positive feeling with the word Bitcoin than any other dutch citizen. Help us spread the knowledge about Bitcoin even more! Share your thoughts, spread the word about this Bitcoincity or donate a couple of Bitcoin beers for this year's new students in Arnhem Bitcoincity!

Btcpoint looks like a gamechanger

Note: The receiver hasn't collected the money yet but if everything goes well I am AMAZED.
I needed to transfer 200 euros to someone in Spain, so I just tried Btcpoint (sent 20 euros to try)
It took me maybe 10 seconds to send the money. No login, no registration, I just had to receive a sms. It looks like they only charge a 1% fee as I paid 20 euros and 20 cents at current rates to send 20 euros (I google searched the number of bitcoins to euros, I don't know which exchange google use, I guess bitstamp). The receiver can collect the cash in an ATM near his place or work. 276 ATM in Barcelona where I needed to send the money.
If these type of service exist in other countries, this is a serious game changer.

How would I exchange bitcoins for USD/EUR on a business scale

I am thinking about starting up a bitcoin website and to do this I need to find out a way on how to exchange my customers bitcoins to Euros or Dollars within 10-15 minutes. A little bit like what bitpay does. I do not want to disclose my business model as I am in the process of patenting the payment process. Thank you.

Irish Finance Minister Clarifies Bitcoin Position

I sent a letter to the Irish Finance Minister:
.
Dear Minister Noonan,
You may or may not be aware of the recent news surrounding digital currencies, the most popular of which is currently Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a decentralised independent cryptographic currency which facilitates immediate global transfer of value for little to no fees and has also proven itself as a store of value in a similar fashion as gold. Bitcoin is frequently termed "The currency of the internet". It's most probably that these types of digital currencies will continue to grow in popularity due to the frictionless, fee saving benefits that they provide end users. An entire technology based industry has been created to facilitate Bitcoin services including escrow companies, Bitcoin banks, trading exchanges and betting sites for example but by all accounts it's still very early days for digital currencies. The daily transactional volume of Bitcoin has recently surpassed that of Western Union (a financial remittance company) and at time of writing has a "narrow stock of money" which exceeds that of Croatia, Latvia and Malta to name a few.
The purpose of this email is a request for formal clarification from the state regarding the capital gains tax procedure that holders of these digital currencies may be liable for. Currently any profit on the disposal of an asset above EURO 1270 is liable for tax at a rate of 33%. The early investors of these currencies who are based in Ireland may see themselves limited by this in the scope of benefits that their foresight now affords them. Many of these people are the type of individual who have deep technical understanding and can spot trends before they happen; the inventors, innovators and creators of products and business. If this money is reinvested in tech startups instead of going to the tax coffers would bring great potential benefits to Ireland. If Ireland can demonstrate that it is friendly for Bitcoin businesses we can ensure that the benefits are not lost to other rival countries and similarly it would invite entrepreneurs here from countries where they may be mired with restrictions. If the regulatory framework is too prohibitive then digital currency startup companies will simply move to other more accepting nations.
I think that there should be no penalty tax for individuals who exchange Bitcoin to Euro in Ireland to encourage digital currency innovation here.
With digital currencies Ireland has an opportunity to distinguish itself as a leader when it comes to fostering new technology business and I would urge you to consider the matter. If you would like to discuss this topic or have any general questions about Bitcoin feel free to give me a call, my number is below.
Kind Regards,
drcross

Dear drcross,
The Minister for Finance, Mr Michael Noonan TD, has asked me to thank you for your correspondence regarding Capital Gains Tax (CGT) and Bitcoin. The delayed reply is regretted.
CGT is chargeable on gains made on the disposal of assets. Section 532(b) Taxes Consolidation Act 1997 states that any currency other than the currency of the State is an asset for CGT purposes. Where a person acquires any foreign currency i.e. other than Euro, he/she has acquired an asset for CGT purposes. If that person subsequently converts that foreign currency into Euro or into another foreign currency that would constitute a disposal of an asset for CGT purposes.
Crypto-currencies, such as Bitcoin, are not legal tender in the Euro area. E-commerce, including the use of virtual currencies, presents a challenge to tax administrations throughout the world. The Revenue Commissioners and tax administrations in other countries are actively monitoring developments. From the information provided, it is not clear how Bitcoin would be treated for CGT purposes. However, it is likely that gains accruing from speculation on Bitcoin would be liable for CGT in the normal way.
Persons are chargeable to CGT on such gains for a year depending on their residence and domicile. The first EURO 1,270 of an individual's net gains for a year (that is gains minus current year losses and losses brought forward from earlier years), is exempt from CGT with the balance taxed at a standard rate of 33%.
As regards reinvesting the proceeds of disposals of Bitcoin in tech startups, a capital gains tax relief for entrepreneurs who reinvest the proceeds from the disposal of assets made on or after 1 January 2010 in certain chargeable business assets was announced by the Minister in Budget 2014. The necessary legislation governing this relief is included in Section 45 of Finance (No 2) Act of 2013. Commencement of the legislative provisions is subject to EU state-aid approval. The purpose of the incentive is to encourage entrepreneurial activity by encouraging individuals who have disposed of assets in recent years to re-invest the proceeds into new productive business activities.
Subject to EU approval, the relief will apply from 1 January 2014 to individual entrepreneurs:
· - who have made disposals of assets since 1 January 2010 on which they have paid capital gains tax;
· - who invest at least EURO 10,000, in the period from 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2018, in acquiring chargeable business assets that will be used in a new business and
· - who subsequently (after a minimum period of 3 years) dispose of those chargeable business assets at a gain giving rise to a capital gains tax liability.
The relief will be given on the tax due on any chargeable gain arising on the subsequent disposal of the chargeable assets after a minimum period of 3 years and will amount to the lower of:
Ø the full amount of capital gains tax paid on the initial disposal made since 1 January 2010, or
Ø 50% of the CGT payable on the disposal of the new chargeable business assets.
If an entrepreneur reinvests the proceeds of that subsequent disposal in a further new business in the 2014-2018 period, the relief can also apply on a subsequent disposal of the chargeable business assets of that further new business. Where less than the full proceeds of a disposal on which capital gains tax has been paid are reinvested, only that proportion of the capital gains tax relative to the amount reinvested will qualify for relief.
The relief will be given in the form of a tax credit equal to the lower of the capital gains tax paid on the disposal of assets made on or after 1 January 2010 or 50% of the capital gains tax on any gain from the future disposal of the chargeable business assets.
The Minister hopes this information is of asistance.
Yours sincerely
Alex Lalor
Private Secretary

Auto-trade between crypto and fiat currencies with Heleum

Hey guys,
I recently discovered a platform for investing in crypto and fiat currencies that automatically trades between them to make profits for you. It's incredibly easy to set up and I've already made £1500+ after using it for about a month with an initial investment of about £6000. It's completely legitimate and is provided through the Uphold platform.
From their website:
How does Heleum work?
Heleum divides a user's available funds into "balloons." A balloon is released when its funds are moved to another currency (national and crypto). (Read more about balloon launching here and here.)
Heleum watches the exchange rates between currencies and moves the funds inside a balloon when it's most advantageous.
Moving between multiple currencies produces a relative gain (small or large) automatically. This causes balloons to float higher and higher as the overall gain increases.
When it becomes most advantageous to move back to the base currency, this forces the balloon to "pop" and realize the overall gain.
Balloons are prevented from popping if the overall gain, minus exchange fees, is less than 2%. For this, a balloon may stay inflated for as little as 40 seconds, or as long as 40+ days. On average, balloons have stayed inflated for ~20 days, during which funds are being moved through multiple currencies, and have produced gains of ~8%.
Instead of exchanging in regular binary pairs (eg. US dollar to British pound, and back to US dollar), your funds follow paths like: US dollar to bitcoin to euro to bitcoin to yen, and back to US dollar, with strong relative gains at each step.
USD $ → BTC ฿ → EUR € → BTC ฿ → JPY ¥ → USD $
You may withdraw funds from popped balloons or leave them in your account to fill new balloons that will continue to launch and pop automatically. Withdrawing funds before balloons are popped will return funds from the currently highest floating balloon first, but may also prevent a balloon from achieving its goal of, at minimum, a 2% gain. It may even force a loss from the lowest currently floating balloons. https://youtu.be/5RWKFZDNU2Y
If you guys could use my referral link if/when you sign up: https://app.heleum.com/9fbab55ea1 I would be soooo grateful as it gives me a increased share of the profits.
Thanks and good luck bois x
